A Schubertian Delight

Saturday 7 January at 3pm

Church of St John the Evangelist
King St, Flinders

Schubert’s lieder for voice and piano are unrivalled for their extraordinary quality and enormous emotional range. They are brought to life in an intimate recital featuring baritone David Greco, recently returned to Australia after 8 years in Europe, and acclaimed pianist Erin Helyard (Orchestra of the Antipodes, Pinchgut Opera).

Highlights of this delightful program include Der Tod und das Mädchen, Im Frühling and Der Wanderer.

Inspired by the latest musicological and historical enquiry, David and Erin will evoke the sounds and spirit of 19th-century Vienna using performance techniques of the day and showcasing a rare Graf pianoforte, a predecessor to the modern-day grand piano built during the pinnacle of classical piano manufacturing.
