A little Fiasco, before the Festivities!

Gather friends for a relaxed early December evening of music, food and wine at Main Ridge Estate, before the silly season begins.

Settle in with a glass of wine, then enjoy the warmth and energy of Fiasco String Quartet, four young musicians on the rise.

Haydn’s expressive F minor quartet and Glazunov’s wonderful Third Quartet unfold across two half-hour performances, with a casual dinner served before and between the music.

It’s an evening designed to be enjoyed at an easy pace — time to savour the music and food, enjoy the estate’s wines and catch up with friends among the vines.

Just 50 tickets available, seated at tables of 6 to 8 people.

PROGRAM 2 × 30 minute sets with 2 course meal

HAYDN: String Quartet in F minor, Op. 20 No. 5

GLAZUNOV: String Quartet No. 3 in G, Op. 26

ARTIST Fiasco Quartet

Fiasco Quartet is a Naarm/Melbourne-based string quartet, currently in their second year of studies at the Australian National Academy of Music. In equal measure irreverent and detail-oriented, the quartet brings a distinctly vibes-first approach to chamber music, pairing thoughtful music-making with a healthy sense of whimsy.

They have been mentored by Howard Penny, Adam Chalabi, Caroline Henbest, and Zoë Black, and have also been coached by András Fejér (Takács Quartet), Jonathan Brown (Cuarteto Casals), Michelle Wood (Tinalley String Quartet), Erica Kennedy (Flinders Quartet), and Paavali Jumppanen. Some recent highlights include selling out their debut headline show, working with the iconic Lutosławski Quartet, and winning the Elisabeth Murdoch Prize at the Melbourne Recital Centre’s Great Romantics Competition.

Consisting of two New Zealanders and two Australians, the group aims to address the unfortunate shortage of home-grown boy bands either side of the Tasman. On the cards for the coming months are several festival and competition appearances.
